Word Tracker Tool
A handy resource when starting a home business, is the Word Tracker Tool. It reveals search engine stats on any particular key word(s) that you enter into the data base. This free keyword research tool allows you to try out Wordtracker, which is one of the more "popular" of the many keyword demand databases. Knowing search volume stats on your keywords is important if you are trying to determine if your business idea (or site concept keyword) is in demand at the search engines. It is also an excellent tool for finding out if your business niche products or services are searched for on the internet.
For example, suppose you wanted to make a website about home jobs because you were a stay at home. Perhaps you wanted to help women bring in an income working around hubby and children. Your general key word(s) would be "home jobs", so you would enter "home jobs" into Word Tracker.

630 work at home jobs 425 work from home jobs 261 home based jobs 212 legitimate work at home jobs 203 stay at home jobs 176 jobs at home 169 at home jobs 152 pay work from home jobs 144 jobs from home 131 part time work from home jobs 128 work at home psychic jobs 122 data entry work from home jobs 114 law jobs and work from home 100 free work at home jobs
In this particular list (for demonstration purposes), I only show 14 entries but in reality, the report returns up to 100 entries (in the free version.)
The figures, in the word tracker tool results, indicate the number of times a day that a surfer(s) entered that particular key word(s) in the search engines to find information on the subject of "home jobs".
As a general guideline, you will want to find a key word(s) that returns a figure of approximately 300-500. Less than 300 means the key word is not much in demand and over 500 means the competition on the subject would be too stiff.
As you see in the example, "home jobs" has a search volume (demand) of 630 which is a little too high to use as an online business idea. This is a broad subject. The competition would probably be too stiff.
"Free work at home jobs" has a search volume of 100. That is rather low. You might not be able to provide enough information on just "free work at home jobs" to work a business around.
Rather, a nice middle ground would be "home based jobs." The search search volume (demand) is a little under 300 but close enough that a profitable "niche" website could be built around this business idea with further investigation.
As you can see, most of the words/terms would probably be closely related in subject matter but word tracker reveals the exact key words that people are typing in the search engines to find information. Word tracker gives you a rough estimate of a keyword's potential search demand. Example: If you wanted to start a home business about birds, it might be too broad, but perhaps a business about budgies might be just right. You can play around with this tool for quite some time plugging in different combinations of words and phrases for your particular idea and see what kind of results you get.
I used the word tracker as one of the tools to help me find my business niche. I continually resort to it to find good "in demand" keywords for writing articles, blogs, and website pages.
