I ask for God's help

by Lorrie
(Valrico, FL)

I ask for GOD's Help

We are facing foreclosure on our home and are behind on all our bills due to my being laid off and my husbands hours being cut. I pray GOD would provide a way out from under this over whelming debt and bring us peace.

Thank you so much!

Linda's Response to Lorrie

Hi Lorrie,

Thanks so much for sharing your prayer request with us. I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. I know there are many people suffering the same financial hardships as you are.

It can get pretty scary if you don't turn to God and trust Him. I know... because I've there. My husband's employment income got cut in 1/2 last year. The feelings of fear and insecurity got pretty overwhelming sometimes if I didn't keep praying and reading my Bible and believing that God knew all about it and that he was in control of the situation.

Thank God that He can be trusted or we'd all be basket cases wouldn't we?

You might consider checking out some of Dave Ramsey's financial material. He also comes on the radio every day. My husband and I listen to him all the time. He's a Christian and gives very solid advice for anyone struggling with personal finances.

You can read about him at http://www.daveramsey.com/

You're in my prayers,

Linda

Tithing is a must
by: Anonymous

A couple of months ago I was getting my checks and tithing 10% every week. Then my husband took over the finances.

While I was tithing, I had plenty of work (full time hours). Since my husband took over, I have worked 4 days in one month and we can can't even afford to buy bread and milk.

It has been a struggle. I pointed it out to my husband and I think he sees that when you try to cut corners with tithing then God knows there is no Faith and then you're not as blessed.

Dear Anonymous,

You are so right about tithing. Sometimes it gets scary to tithe because you wonder how you're going to manage on 90% when you couldn't manage on 100%!

But somehow God works it all out. It's miraculous really. It can be quite fun too! I remember a few years ago keeping track of the blessings that came my way because of tithing.

I made a little chart on my computer and wrote down every little thing that I knew God was doing. Sometimes it was an item on sale at the grocery store. Sometimes someone from church gave me clothes for my daughter. Sometimes someone invited us to dinner. Sometimes my gas tank seemed to stretch longer than usual. There were so many blessings that I was convinced God was blessing because of tithing.

In fact I'm so excited remembering all those things that I think I'll keep track again... just for the reminder that God DOES come through.

My husband and I have tithed for years but when I write things down, I tend to be more aware of the many blessings that come my way and from WHOM they come!

Thanks for sharing,

Linda
