Below are a few samples of what I have.
Attitude is Important
Perhaps you heard about the Yankee shoe salesman who went to Africa and wired his manufacturer, "I want to come home. Nobody wears shoes in this part of Africa."
So they brought him home and sent another salesman who shipped back order after order. He wrote the home office, "Everybody here needs shoes!"
Lesson Learned: Christians should always look for the "best side." And there always is one.
Original Inscription on a Tombstone
Remember, friend, when passing by,
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, soon you will be,
Prepare for death and follow me.
Added comment to inscription:
To follow you I'm not content
Until I know which way you went!
Robert E Lee wrote a recommendation for a man who had bitterly criticized him.
"How can you give that man a reference?" he was asked, "Don't you know he has been your severest critic?"
Lee replied, "I was asked to give my opinion of him, not his opinion of me."
Here's another good one...
"Troublesome times offer us opportunities to show what we are. When the critics are hottest, our faith is being tested; and what we are will show in how we worship God." Stainback
Quips and Quotes
I do not ask my cross to understand,
My way to see;
Better in the darkness just to feel Thy hand
And follow Thee.
Do a deed of simple kindness;
Though its end you may not see,
It may reach, like widening ripples,
Down a long eternity.
