Christian Dieting, Secular Diets... Is There a Difference?

Most Christians contribute more time and money on maintaining their local church building than they do on caring for the "temple of the Holy Spirit," which is the physical body.

Bad habits have taken their toll. Christian eating and drinking patterns have seriously hindered the Holy Spirit from doing his work simply because Christians do not feed their bodies the proper nutrition to keep their temple in good repair.

The Bible says in Prov. 9:11, "For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased." But for that to happen, Christians need to make drastic changes to their diet.

Christian Diet Plans

There are many Christian eating plans on the market today but are they any different than secular diets? My belief is that there is a difference in that a Christian ought to seek God for wisdom and go to the Lord, the Bible, and fellow Christians for Godly council when choosing what types of food enter his system. Whereas a non Christian would not acknowledge that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and wouldn't seek help from God.

I hate to term "eating right" as a diet. Christian dieting is more of a "lifestyle" change. It's just another area in one's life that must be turned over to the Lord to control. It should not be treated as a quick fix diet fad to conquer the battle of the bulge but rather a life long permanent change in a person's spiritual, emotional, and mental state.

My husband Roger and I have made huge strides in changing what we eat. It all started when we found an article by a Christian Pastor who was diagnosed with cancer and turned to the Lord for wisdom about whether to have an operation and treat the cancer by conventional means.

This Pastor chose to allow his body to self heal and cure his illness by trusting God and eating what I call, "God" food. It's an 85% organic raw diet that does not allow for meat, dairy, sugar, sodium, and highly processed foods.

The Pastor was miraculously healed of his cancer and thousands of his followers are enjoying complete relief of various ailments ranging from obesity to breast cancer.
