Before you can hope to have Godly character you need to be sure you are a Christian. That might seem like an odd statement but attending a Christian church or Christian school, knowing some Bible stories, or teaching Sunday School, does not make you a Christian.
Godly Character is built on the foundation of knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.
Character and Business
Devoting one page to explain Christian character would never do the topic justice. A whole website could be written on the subject and it still would not be enough. I’ll attempt here to narrow the focus on Christian character as it relates to your home based business and at the bottom of the page I'll be adding a series of lessons based on biblical principles to develop character and help you with personal and business growth.
Your home business success will be in direct proportion to the state of your character at any given time. Your character is a reflection of the quality of the relationship you have with Jesus each moment, day by day.
Character Built Through Trials
Many times He will test you and train you through problems, heartaches and trials. Your character is molded and shaped by how you respond to events that God has placed in your life or allows to happen. Your job is to turn to God and ask him to change you. That is how Christian character is built. Ask him to remove your character defects and shortcomings so you can meet those conditions as they are. Believe that He is in control and trust the outcome to Him. You'll move through them with poise and assurance when you rely on Him and his righteousness and not your own resources.
Personal Growth
The average person tries to improve his character without seeking God's help. He will work on forcing himself to overcome situations or fight them. He will try disciplining himself, or he'll work on building his skills or self confidence. He'll try to get on top of his problems or try to control them. Attempting to build character without God's help is simply will power and usually is temporal and futile.
Surrender to God
The answer to character building is abiding in Christ, fully trusting God and allowing Him to work through you, speak through you, act through you. Remember that you cannot successfully or permanently change anything of yourself by yourself. Godly Christian character can only be established through total surrender to Him. Once surrendered, you will be in the best place of service to help others through your home based business activities.
Right Thinking
Good Christian character demands that your mind and thoughts be on the right things for your business. The Bible says to commit your works unto the Lord and your thoughts shall be established. Reading your Bible and praying daily will help you keep your home business heading in the right direction.
Right Motives
Your motive for creating and growing your home business needs to be pure and right from the start. Success is fulfilling the purpose for which God made you, not working for money or material gain. Strive to be a giver, not a taker and God will provide.
Always remember that God is your employer so do your very best as you go about your daily home business tasks. Remember that activity isn't always productive work. Know what God wants you to accomplish for the day and avoid menial time wasters. A goal worth reaching takes energy and persistence. Building a home based business is not an easy task but if we are motivated by love, it becomes a pleasure and a joy.
