"I need help writing an about me page and about me pages. I am a Graphic designer, not a writer!!" Gabe ON, CA

My answer...

"A lot of people freeze when it comes to writing an "about me page" but it's not that hard to do once you know the basics.

People like to read a bit of personal information about you.

Many of your website visitors will do business with you if they know a little about you first. It makes you more human to your potential customers. You want to be "approachable." That's the point of the about me page.

So... you would write things like: Whether or not you're married, have children, where you learned graphic design, why you chose photography, where you used to live, some of your past experiences, jobs, assignments, etc.

You should also make note of how your graphic designer skills can benefit your visitor. (You want them to remember something unique about you that stands out above all other graphic designers.) Make sure it's not a "sales" page, just very informative.

You can check out my about me page here. Mine is quite a lot more personal than most people would write but I felt the need to share with my visitors on a deeper level because of the nature of my site. You don't have to get into such personal things like I did if you don't want to. You can be more general.

An important thing about writing an about me page on your website or blog is making sure that your grammar and spelling is correct. Mistakes don't look professional. If you're sloppy with your spelling, chances are that your prospects will be suspicious of your professional photography skills as well.

If you want me to write an about me page for you, I do provide that type of service for a small fee. Let me know if you are interested.

Hope that helps,

Linda Pepin
