1. Know Your Why

If you find yourself grinding to a halt in your home business building efforts, maybe it's time to re-evaluate why you wanted to start your own business in the first place. Check out the newest page I wrote on my website here and get the help you need to get motivated again.

2. Lead By Example

If your business involves training and leading people who have joined your opportunity, sooner or later you will learn that many of your followers really aren't the committed workers they led you to believe. I experienced this first hand a couple of years ago. I unfortunately had some people with a welfare mentality, meaning they were too dependent on me for their "meat." They wanted everything done for them. I heard of lot of complaining and whining when they found out it wasn't a lottery ticket they bought when they joined my business.

When the windfall doesn't come, these types of people will realize building a business requires dedication, commitment, and drive. At that point, they'll roll up their sleeves and dig in or they'll head out the back door.

Make yourself available to help and guide the teachable ones, but never fall prey to negativity and complaints. You'll get dragged down very quickly. Before you know it, you'll be neglecting your own business and wondering why you're depressed. Let them go or you'll be spending your time propping them up and doing things the things they should be working on themselves. Don't take responsibility for their lack of motivation or success. It's not your job.

The best teachers are those who lead by example. They don't babysit. So keep focused on building your own business. Consistently learn new things and apply them to your business. Keep moving forward. Share your knowledge as you go but don't waste time on people who make excuses, blame others, or threaten to drop out.

Keep the right attitude about yourself, your business, and your future. You'll attract the right kind of associates who will appreciate your help and gratefully work with you. You'll build strong leaders and create leverage not dependent leaches.

3. Faith and Belief

I love the expression, "Believe more deeply even for the moment you do not see." It reminds me to trust in the desired outcome even though there is no physical evidence to support my belief.

One of my favourite Bible verses is, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) I often repeat the above phrase or the Bible verse to myself when I'm advertising or marketing. Why? Because I'll be diligently working away at placing ads, writing web pages, and building relationships. But maybe for the time being, not getting immediate results. That could get discouraging if I don't keep my thinking right. So, I remind myself that my efforts will pay off sometime, somewhere. I just might not see it for the time being.

It reminds me of fishing. Something I always love to do. I can't ever remember complaining that I wasn't catching anything. I just totally enjoyed the experience of trying different bait, casting my line in different spots on the lake, feeling the sun on my body, and listening to the loons.

My husband and I would try throwing the anchor in and sitting still or pulling it in and drifting with our line in the water. Sure it was exciting to catch a fish but I thoroughly enjoyed the trying, the testing, and the waiting. I knew sometime, somewhere, I'd eventually catch a fish. I never doubted it. I like to compare my marketing and advertising to fishing. It makes it so less stressful a whole lot more fun.

4. The Calling in Method

I heard a fellow marketer recently talking about the "calling in method" He gave an illustration of a dog owner whistling and calling for his dog that was out of sight. The master didn't give up calling in his dog because he couldn't see his pet. He just kept at it....whistling, calling, and waiting. The dog was actually on it's way; Running and bounding toward him even though his owner couldn't actually see him.

That's the "calling in method" of prospecting for affiliates or customers. Keep advertising and marketing. Don't give up. There are prospects coming toward you. They're on their way. You just can't see them yet. Believe it! Don't get discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Sometimes it takes a week, a month, even a year before some of your prospects respond to your offer.

That's all for now friends. If you have any suggestions for the e-zine, please feel free to let me know by responding to this email.

Keep moving forward one step at a time however small and remember that it's not about accumulating money. It's about our relationship with God and helping others. Money is a merely a means of exchanging love and service.

One of the songs I love the lyrics to goes like this, "Little is much when God is in it. Labour not for wealth or fame. There's a crown and you can win it. If you go in Jesus' name."
